Official Olympic sponsor Samsung has created an interactive fan zone at Atrium on Takutai so fans can catch all the action from London at Britomart.
You'll be able to view the Games action on seven screens that will feature coverage across seven different channels 24 hours a day seven days a week for the duration of the Games. There's also a huge 33 square metre big screen that will screen the opening and closing ceremonies live as well as selected events featuring New Zealand athletes and show key highlights at three screening times daily. The screening times are 7am-9am, 12pm-2pm and 4.30pm-7pm each day. It’s the perfect place to catch New Zealand medal moments.
An on-site Samsung Olympic concierge will be available from 7am to 7pm each day to help members of the public interact within the fan zone. People will be able to send messages to the New Zealand team from mobile devices at stands within the fan zone as well as play with the Olympic Games application loaded on Samsung Galaxy Tablets.
After dark the wall of Stanbeth House will feature a projection of the daily Olympic highlights package along with messages to the New Zealand team captured from the fan zone during the day. There will also be regular screenings of John Walker’s epic Olympic gold moment from the Montreal Games of 1976. The night screenings will play from 7pm-10pm Sunday to Thursday and 7pm-12am Friday and Saturday.
An Olympic themed art installation called ‘Measure up’ will be displayed on the lawn at Takutai Square. The display will include four large sporting figures from the sports of shot put, athletics, swimming and rowing. The art pieces will contain key statistics and interesting information about those sporting events. People will be able to have their photo taken by Samsung ambassadors to see how they ‘measure up’ against the sporting figures and photos can be created into badges at the Galaxy Studio on-site.
