Heart of the City and Auckland Transport have worked together to change the rates for on-street parking and at AT parking buildings. These changes are designed to make it easier to find on-street parks for short term stays and cheaper to stay in parking buildings for longer stays. These changes took effect in November 2012.
So whether you're coming to the city for dinner, a show, shopping, gallery hopping or whatever else takes your fancy, you’ll pay less for parking and have more to spend on the things that are important to you.
If you’re going to be staying in the city for more than 2 hours, you should head to an AT parking building. For the 6 months from 19 November, it’ll only cost $3 per hour to park in the Downtown, Victoria St and Civic parking buildings during peak times, and only $2 per hour off peak.
Weekdays before 5pm: $3 per hour
Weekday evenings: $2 per hour, $8 max per evening
Weekends: $2 per hour, $8 max per day
Parking prices in the central zones will be lower for stays of less than two hours, and if you're parking for less than 10 minutes you don't need to pay at all. If you want to stay longer though, now you can. There’ll be no time limits for Pay & Display parking so you can just pay for what you need.
